Sleep? Empty Sleep?

Post by defying gravity Fri Jun 04, 2010 10:22 pm

I don't understand why we need sleep really. Well I guess I understand but I wish we didn't have to sleep and we didnt' have affects of not sleeping.

I have to agree with Mazzi on this, XD
The only reason I got out of bed this morning was for my laptop.

Well what I mean is if our bodies didn't get affected by lack of sleep we wouldn't crave it. And if we don't crave then we'd have more time to do things. We sleep because we need it. I love sleeping don't get me wrong. I just hate that it's required.

True...but then they do say that sleep is a great healer, how many times have you been struck with cold/time of the month pains, gone to sleep and woken up feeling better??

And sometimes you can just see it as a break. Imagine if you did so much in the day and then you didn't sleep...you wouldn't stop and then how could you really appreciate what you've done??

^ I see what you're getting at. I'm in agreement with both points - wishing sleep wasn't a requirement of life, and then the need to appreciate things and recovery. Not so much the recovery though - I often find that when I'm ill, I simply cannot sleep as hard as I may try.

True. I think this why I envy vampires. They never grow old and they don't have to sleep well depends on which legend/story of vamps you go by.

I love sleep. Like the study of it and actually sleeping.

But thanks to my chronotype, me and both my sisters run on one of the American timezones. I'd like to thank my mum and dad for their fucked up genes on that one.

I'm also fascinated by fatal familial insomnia. It has the best lack of sleep effects ever XD

I love sleep, but yet I stay up all night. XD

That probably makes me love sleep even more after staying up more than half the night. tehe

^ Love that effin' quote. Coz I totally agree...

Though I do tend just to pass out whenever... Think Which is kinda bad. Nocturnal for the most part seeing as I work (the corner) at night.

You'd get so much more done if you didn't have to sleep. In reality though, adults only need four hours sleep to function healthily. We just get into the habit of sleeping when it's dark.

I wake up early so I don't get obsessions with lie ins but i do like my bed as a comfortable seat.
