Post by Gingerduckii Sat Jun 05, 2010 10:36 pm

This is a hobby for me.

But this site has brought back memories of a very different rp that i started out on. It's strange to think that this is quite like Mibba rp but because it's just a site dedicated to rp (Unless Vi changes it).

I don't know how many people have started out with rp on mibba or other palces but my first rp site was a site called Twilight Genesis.

As you can guess, it was all about Twilight. But i joined it before the hype. I'd bought the books, three for two actually and was reading them. I was on Quizilla at the time, another writing/quiz site, and i saw a post saying 'Twilight fans come here' or something to that effect. So i follwoed the link and found this rp site. I'd seen one before but hadn't got the jist of it so i started to talk to the admin who'd posted up the ad on Quizilla and she helped me immensely.

I was about fourteen and there was so much I didn't know, when i first signed up I was only halfway through the book, but by the time i had finished my application i was halfway through the second. But i had to have help with everything, from how to post an application to what to put in there. Especially when it came to things like American schooling. You had tostate what year your character had to be in and i'd only ever heard of Freshmen, Juniors and Seniors in films and series like Buffy, I didn't see them as actual years just words. I couldn't even really explani it properly so I gave the admin the age of my character and she told me the right eyar to put down, Junior. In my mind this was just so weird, a sixteen/seventeen year old wasn't a junior they were a Year 11 student. To make the jumps easier for myself i had my character from the UK so she'd be just as lost as I was and i still remember her fondly now. A Welsh dancer, huamn, having to live with her grandfather in Forks because her archaeologist parents were halfway around the world on a dig called Lottie. I used Lindsay Lohan as my face claim (they had to be celebrities really and nobody start any lectures about the choice when people choose celebs such as Miley Cyrus). She was everything I wish i could have been and eventually i got my best friend on the site after talking so much about it.

Since that site I created a multitiude of characters and left some behind while others prospered, one character i hold quite dear to my heart is a werewolf called Rhoan Callaghan, a Scottish music teacher with the face claim of John Barrowman. He ended up getting married on the site and produced two children, the girl, from Canada, who controlled his wife and I became very firm friends for almost two years before we fell out for the final time.

Twilight Genesis was one of the first Twilight rp sites that I saw, and no other could really measure up to it, it was friendly and open even thoguh i had my fair share of arguments on there. While i was on it I joined many other sites of different genres, these sites never had more than one plotline even though the charcters could write their own stories within the plot. But not all new sties were good, I applied for a spot on another twilight site and my application was denied due to spelling and grammar mistakes. When I checked it I could find no spelling mistakes but I know that grammar is not my strong point in writing. I was pretty pissed off, especially considering that the girl who had denied me was American and I felt that she was picking up on the different spellings of words that have transpired between the UK and America. So that was the end of that. I sent a rather angry pm to the girl and vowed never to return to the site. It was another sore point between me and my once Canadian friend.

I even dabbled with some people in creating new sites. I was co-admin on many before I finally made my own. With a girl i now consider one of my best friends who i actually met through Mibba. The site didn't hit off too well, not many people joined it wasn't a very open plot now that I think back on it, the once canadian friend did join but we even rowed over that and she left and i was glad for it. (Yeah the friendship wasn't healthy at all in the end we even had a huge arguement that started from different opinions on snow, it was pathetic really)

But i made characters on that site, and on another that I was co-admin with my best friend that I couldn't lose. Aiden Smith (fc: Alex McKee) and Cadi Rose (fc: Keira Knightley) Golden Fields, the site, has now died and is somewhere in cyberspace, unfortunately I have lost the link and cannot find it. But it does still live really, me and my best friend rp it most times we speak to eachother on msn and while she has fallen out of rp she will still do that with me, though in msn we dont' call it rp, we call it cc (crazy convo), a name that I came up with after rp-ing Naruto fan-fiction with another friend.

Being on RP frenzy has brought back memories of a happy time in my life, and while Mibba rp i still rp, it's so utterly different.

My first ever rp post (with Lottie on Twilight Genesis) was over ten paragraphs long, short paragraphs, but to see them on the page i was astounded at how much I had written. I did calm down after that but my posts quickly grew long again, in that rp it was mainly one on one, group threads were difficult because of the amount of time it took to write a reply someone had already answered and you would have to modify your post. (Which is why, if any one on here was on it, I demanded a posting order on A Town Called Malice, i hated replying to see someone had already got in before me xD).

But I find now that I almost cannot face writing as much as I used to in an rp, Mibba has conditioned me into shorter replies that take less than two minutes to write. In a way that saddens me, I would like to go back to that kind of writing because I have so many happy memories of it, it was more challenging, more serious to me. More like writing.

So for this to be a discussion (after that essay) I jsut wanna know...who moved onto Mibba rp after starting out on other sites? What other sites were you in if that was the case? How many people started rp-ing on Mibba? And how long have people been rp-ing on Mibba?

And would anybody be interested in an rp where you had to write lengthier posts? (As in, a post being at least a paragraph containing five sentences.)

Yeah i'm just nosy and giving me the chance to speak like this is probably something people will come to regret...and just so you have an idea of things, this is about how much i used to write before Mibba XD

I think Mibba was the first roleplay site I rp'ed on. I was on Quizilla too, but I didn't really have the hang of how to use that site.

So, this one is really exciting me, this site, with it being, currently, purely focused on roleplaying.

I've been on so many writing sites. Because I was never into Roleplaying. I thought it was so lame. But then I joined Neoseeker, hence HM idea, and then started. When I realized Mibba had a rp, cause I've been on Mibba for three years, I was so happy. But it's so different then Neo.

I first started RPing when I was 10 on Neopets XD
Then I stopped when I got to high school, then when the Coven was made I co-founded the USS Mibbaprise and got into it again. But I go off and on it so there's months where I just don't do any.

My replies vary in length depending on the character or the scene, for example, back in the day on some site I don't recall I had some amazing character and did novels as posts. I tend to do really short replies in sex scenes for reasons I won't disclose XD

I think it's fair to write that length (the fourth paragraph in the original post). I mean, it is broadening your grammar, and making your posts seem more impressive than they are - especially if you're putting to use your knowledge of vocabulary, and structure of writing - length of sentence, use of parenthesis, etc., you know?

there's rp on neopets?
Wow.

and i totally agree with you Cassie, one of teh reasons i first went into rp was thinking that it would help my writing skills. In truth it probably has.

Yeah, I have to agree with you. I mean, I'm in a mixture of *action- roleplays and paragraph roleplays, on Mibba, but the paragraph format - along with watching what other people posted for language and et cetera - certainly helped me, I think.

I know, I started RPing with Mibba. Took a year to find out they had RP on there. But I started it thinking it would help my writing skills but now all I type is three measly sentence because I"m afraid someone will post before me. I think that's why I love my site, it gives you chance to modify before you post, letting you know a new post that came before yours.

I think I might implement a suggested paragraph rule for RPing.

XD It's awesome, I got to see your post Cassie then I modified so I can be able to say that! tehe

lmfao
I think that's a great thing about this site, in honesty. XD
I like having the chance to modify if someone else posts before me, quickly, without having to go through the whole scroll up, read the above post, and edit and reply and repost.

That was such a good site...but if I'm honest, this site is filling that hole a little...I miss the people most I guess.
